Classwares

I apologize for any strange items — this list is regenerated by an AI directly from our internal work tickets, so the wording and order is often pretty arbitrary.

Here is every feature we have built or are building. “Live now” means it works today on our beta site. “Coming next” is what we are working on.

Live now

Browsing and search

  • Every page has the same sticky top bar with the logo, search, cart and Sign in (or "Hello, your name" once you're signed in).
  • An always-accessible bar of subjects under the logo. Works on desktop and phone with a pull-down for subjects that don't fit.
  • Every page has a footer with Back to top, our address, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and copyright.
  • The home page has a band of announcement cards.
  • Signed-out visitors see a seasonal or special-event shelf (for example Halloween) tied to dates and keywords, a random-subject shelf, a random-keyword shelf, a "New" shelf and a 2x3 grid of resource cards.
  • The home page sections (Announcements, Seasonal, Specialty, Resources) each have a name and a "see all" results page, and empty sections are hidden.
  • Resource cards look the same everywhere: a square cover, title, store name and price. Tap the cover, title or price to open the resource, or the store name to open the store. Sellers' emails are never shown.
  • Shelves are one scrolling row that fits the screen width, with arrows only when there is more to see in that direction.
  • Search results show resources as cards, and every card has its cover image.
  • Signed-in visitors no longer see the "sign in for personalized recommendations" box.
  • Missing pages show a friendly Classwares page, never a raw error.
  • Pages fit a phone screen without sideways scrolling, and the mobile header is tidy.
  • Search result cards have room to breathe on wider screens.
  • Subject filters find the right resources even after a subject is renamed.
  • The full list of 31 subjects and 529 topics drives the subject bar and a Subjects page, with every subject treated the same.
  • Home-page announcements come from the announcements list our team manages, each with a small and a large image.
  • A public catalog ranks resources by completeness and how recent they are, never by paid placement. Cards show the title, price, a watermarked thumbnail and a link to the shop, and drafts are never shown.
  • The buyer home page shows recently viewed items (even for guests), a starter shelf, your saved cart, wish-list price drops and announcements.

Resource pages

  • Each resource page shows the cover on the left, with the buy box and a Highlights panel on the right: grades, standards, resource type, subjects, tags, page count and the list of included files.
  • The description shows the seller's formatting, including paragraph breaks and highlights. Unsafe links are removed.
  • A sticky bar with section tabs (Description, Reviews and so on) appears when the buy box scrolls out of view.
  • Buyers can read and write reviews.
  • In a Questions and Answers section, buyers ask questions and sellers answer them. Questions are moderated, the section shows a count, and both sides get email notices.
  • Everyone can see a Standards section that lists each standard code with its full description, grouped by framework.
  • "More from <store>" and "You might also like" shelves appear on the resource page, and the resource owner sees owner actions there.
  • A store card in the buy box shows the store name and logo, a Follow button and the follower count. Buyers can follow a store and get updates when it adds or changes listings, and follows are saved permanently.
  • Share buttons with icons: Copy link, Facebook, Pinterest, X and Email.
  • Add to cart, Buy now and Wish List all work from the resource page.
  • Founding sellers get a "Keystone" founding-seller badge on cards, the resource page, the store header and the seller desk.
  • Cover images use the resource title as their alt text, for screen readers.
  • Each resource gets an automatic preview: a watermarked stack of page images, never the file being sold. This also works for existing resources.
  • A "Preview this item" viewer shows every page as a watermarked image, with auto-hiding arrows and no image saving. The seller can turn it on or off per resource. It now lives on the pre-download page.
  • On phones, the sticky bar on resource pages no longer covers the header and cover image.
  • The preview PDF opens on the resource page for visitors and signed-in buyers, and a missing preview shows a short, clear message instead of an error.

Seller tools

  • The "Become a seller" page shows the price and lets a teacher open a seller account for free, and signed-out visitors have a clear way to sign up as a seller.
  • Sellers can create and edit stores. A store's owner, or an admin, can delete the store after a confirmation showing how many resources it holds, and those resources go back to drafts.
  • The store page has a page-wide banner image with a cropping tool, a large personal image, a card grid of resources with paging, and a friendly message when the store has nothing published yet.
  • The seller desk shows your own resources, grouped by store, with Draft or Published status and small edit and delete icons.
  • The seller dashboard's Published count includes only visible listings, and the "hide from store" and "hide from marketplace" settings are kept exactly as set.
  • The create and edit resource form takes prices in dollars, lets sellers type their own keywords as chips, hides the store picker when there is only one store, lists what is needed to publish, shows friendly Mountain Time dates and has an (i) tooltip on every field.
  • The create-resource page walks you through numbered steps (Basics, Files and preview, Pricing, Audience and standards, Review and publish), with clear field labels, and it keeps your saved cover when you come back.
  • Sellers choose a tax code for each resource, with digital goods as the default.
  • Saving and publishing are reliable. Editing keeps the existing description and file. Re-saving a draft works. A seller can attach, replace or delete a file and then publish. A failed publish is shown as a failure, and a description with no links is never rejected. Signed-out visitors who open the create form are sent to sign in.
  • Sellers write descriptions in a rich-text editor with headings, lists, bold, highlights and links.
  • Sellers can upload a preview PDF (up to 30 MB) or a preview video (up to 1 GB), plus up to 5 thumbnails. The preview PDF reliably attaches to the listing.
  • When a seller uploads a zip, they can choose which file inside it to use as the preview.
  • Cover images should be square (750×750 recommended). Sellers are warned about small or non-square images, and each display size is cached.
  • Free seller accounts are limited to 15 active free items, 100 active items and 50 GB of uploads, with clear messages when a limit is reached. Paid sellers have no limits.
  • Uploading a file larger than your whole storage allowance shows a clear message, and limit messages show small sizes exactly instead of rounding to 0 GB.
  • The Become a seller page has an info button next to the Free and Paid options. Each one opens a full page that explains what that kind of seller account means.
  • Tags added while creating a resource now save reliably.
  • The resource type list offers 13 resource types instead of only "Digital Download".
  • Sellers can share a link to any resource. Guests see a watermarked preview, pay with just an email address, and download.
  • The share button copies a link that remembers who shared it.
  • Store pages show only published items and are fully Classwares-branded.
  • Any teacher can open a shop and publish, with no invitation needed.
  • A basic sales and orders view for sellers.
  • A short "About" section for each store.
  • At first publish, sellers confirm they own the copyright, that the resource is non-exclusive and fits K-12, and they see the fees and Terms.

Uploads and file protection

  • Your resource files, covers and download rights are stored safely and permanently.
  • Uploads are limited to 4 GB for resource files, 30 MB for preview PDFs, 1 GB for preview videos and 4 MB for covers and thumbnails. A single zip file works as a resource file in the one-at-a-time listing form.
  • Every upload is checked against a list of files removed for copyright reasons, so copies of those files are refused.
  • Buyers never get the file being sold as a preview, and that file is never exposed on public pages.
  • Drafts are private. They never appear on public pages, and their cover and thumbnail images can't be opened by anyone except the owner.
  • The seller desk shows your own resources, grouped by store, with Draft or Published status and small edit and delete icons.
  • Cropped images are always cut from your full original image, so every size stays sharp.

Payments, checkout, refunds and payouts

  • Free ($0) resources have a "Get it Free" button. Guests enter an email and get a download link, signed-in buyers get the item in their library, and the seller is notified. Deleting a resource that has free gets works.
  • Signed-in buyers have My purchases with a Download button for each item, and can download again anytime. Guests download through an emailed link.
  • After a purchase, a redesigned pre-download page asks the buyer to acknowledge the terms before downloading.
  • Refunds apply to a specific sale at the price actually paid, never more.
  • When a refund is made, the buyer gets a refund confirmation email and the seller gets a refund notice, both showing the price paid.
  • The cart was redesigned: clear item rows, Remove with an Undo, and an order summary.
  • Guests can add items to the cart. They see an "Added to cart" message with a View cart link, the cart is saved, and the cart count in the header updates right away.
  • The header cart icon looks like Amazon's, with the item count shown on the basket and the word "Cart" under it.
  • The cart's Undo strip matches the new design, and screen readers hear the refund note only once.
  • Sellers can set up payouts to their bank.
  • Buyers get a 24-hour refund link.
  • Buyers get a receipt email after paying.
  • Buyers have a clear way to contact support.
  • Sales tax and fraud checks are built into checkout.

Accounts and sign-in

  • Sign in and Create account are simple Classwares pages. You sign up with your email address and a password.
  • New sign-ups and email changes are confirmed by email, and known abusive addresses are blocked.
  • Users who forget their password can reset it by email.
  • Passwords must be at least 12 characters everywhere you set one, not just on the sign-up form.
  • Safer email and password changes: you confirm your password to change your email, your old address gets an undo link, and other devices are signed out when you change your password.
  • Account page polish: a tidier password section, notification settings and a longer bio.
  • After signing in, you land on the home page or the page you were trying to reach. Your account page is one click away from your name in the header.
  • "Keep me signed in" lasts 7 days.
  • The account page lets users edit their name, address and grades taught, and change their email or password, all with one Save button.
  • Users can delete their account after confirming with their password and email. There is a 7-day grace period with a Reactivate button. A seller's buyers get 30 days' notice before the seller's resources are removed.
  • Our beta site is invitation-only: teachers we invite get in through a personal email link.
  • Buyers can make an account, or check out as a guest.

Safety and privacy

  • Classwares emails block unsafe links.
  • Signed-in sellers see owner controls only on their own resources.
  • Bold text in resource descriptions now shows as bold.

Moderation and reporting

  • Each resource page has a "Report this resource" link, with reason checkboxes, a details box and a copyright-notice step. It works whether or not you're signed in, and it's protected against spam.
  • Our team reviews every report and can unpublish a resource, warn a seller, or suspend an account.
  • Suspending a seller hides their stores and resources.
  • Everyone involved gets an email: the reporter (we got your report), and the seller (a warning, a removed resource with the copyright notice, or a suspension).
  • Signed-in users can send a bug report or suggestion with the "Report an issue" button, and it reaches our team by email.

Running the marketplace

  • Our team manages subjects, keywords and seasonal shelves.
  • Our team can deactivate or reactivate accounts, and lift an email block when it was a mistake.
  • Home-page announcements are updated by our team in minutes.
  • Our team can view a seller's drafts (read-only) when helping with support, and admin access is tightly limited.
  • Every seller, buyer and admin action is recorded in an audit log.

Email

  • Classwares email is reliable: messages are retried if needed and never sent twice.
  • Logos in Classwares emails now show up correctly in every inbox.
  • Marketing and notification emails have a shared footer with a working unsubscribe link. Purchase, download and account emails never carry one.

Legal and policy

  • Every page has a footer with Back to top, our address, Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and copyright.

  • Phone fixes: form errors are no longer hidden under the top bar, and the seller header fits small screens.
  • The header search box no longer gets in the way when you submit another form on the page.
  • Announcement cards start slim and show the large image only on hover or tap.
  • Clicking an announcement card opens its own announcements page.

  • Faster page loads from bundled, cached styles and scripts.

  • Resource pages show a description's full formatting, and pasted text is cleaned up.
  • Sharp, undistorted cover images and thumbnails on resource pages.
  • Resource previews open in a large popover window the size of a full page, instead of a small box on the page.
  • An AI-use level on every resource, from "No AI" to fully AI-made plus "Not reported", shown as a badge in the corner of the cover image on cards, resource pages, search and store pages.

Personal picks

  • Recommendations shaped by your private thumbs up and down. Your choices stay private and are never shown as counts.
  • Wish-list price-drop alerts and a team wish list for schools.
  • Teacher tools such as a planner, slides, desk apps and an AI helper.
  • A personal subject bar: the subjects you browse most move to the front of your top bar. It is private to you and never shown to anyone else.

Seller tools

  • Finish the create-a-resource redesign: a Visibility section, and a Save draft that never fails silently.
  • A Format field, and page counts listed by page type.
  • Re-opening a resource keeps its page counts, so saving again never clears them.
  • A shared list of page types for the Pages field, with suggestions as you type.
  • Text alignment and justify buttons in the description editor.
  • Higher-education grades (undergraduate, graduate and college textbooks), ZIP as a download file type, and more page units.

  • A Go To My Store button and store picker in the seller top bar.
  • An upload-type chooser at the start of create: computer file, video, Google Drive or bundle.

  • Bundles, and super-bundles that span sellers.
  • A CSV and zip bulk import of listings, plus bulk export.
  • CSV and JSON template files that describe the bulk import format.
  • Move over from Teachers Pay Teachers: a seller-run import helper exports your listings, files and reviews there and brings them into Classwares in bulk. Imported reviews are marked as imported and don't count toward ratings.

  • A clearer Become a seller page: fees, terms and the founding offer shown before you choose a plan, friendlier errors, and a completed account required first.
  • A Start selling entry point after sign-up, a payout setup card on the seller desk, and plain explanations of payout timing and account limits.
  • The seller desk shows a small version of your store banner.
  • Easier store setup and editing on phones, with a banner preview before upload and errors shown next to the field.

  • The description toolbar stays visible while you scroll.
  • Store banners keep the whole image when uploaded at the suggested size.
  • A Visit my Store button at the top of the seller desk.
  • Large images, up to 25 megapixels, upload without errors.

  • Downloads use short-lived, single-use links, and guest download links expire.
  • Every download, purchase list, price change and file change is checked against the account that owns it.
  • A stronger block on re-uploads of files removed for copyright reasons.

Payments, checkout, refunds and payouts

  • Group and school buying accounts with invoice payment and extra licenses.
  • International sellers and buyers: other currencies, tax and VAT, and payouts outside the US.
  • Bundle discounts in the cart when you buy several items.
  • Refund rules from Oct 12: no refund after download when a full preview was available, a 14- or 7-day cutoff when nothing was downloaded, and 72 hours with a required reason for items without a preview.
  • Buyers who were refunded can't leave reviews, and their reviews don't count in rankings.
  • A buyer refund-abuse limit: more than 3 quick refunds a year.
  • Purchase and return counts per resource, so resources with unusually high returns are flagged.
  • The guest cart's header count updates on Remove, with good contrast in dark mode.
  • Final cart polish to match our new design.
  • Free downloads are protected against repeats and abuse.
  • Beta testers get a free first year as founding members, counted from launch, with a reminder email before renewal.

Accounts and sign-in

  • Buyer sign-in with a passkey, Google or Apple.
  • Sign-in that fails safely: if something goes wrong, pages still load and you're simply shown as signed out.
  • International addresses: State or province plus Country, with Country picked from a list (stored as a 2-letter code, default United States). The "Show my location on reviews" setting saves, and existing rows aren't all forced to US.
  • Circular profile pictures (avatars) for buyers and sellers.
  • The show-password eye icon displays the right state.
  • Beta gate improvements. Invite links keep working until the account is created, even when link scanners open them first. Invalid or expired links show friendly, branded HTML pages. First use opens Create account with the invite email filled in and locked, the sign-in page links to signup, and every password field has a show/hide toggle.
  • Only our team can send beta invitations, and invited teachers get an instructions email.
  • The beta invite email and signup page explain test money on the beta site, with Beta Tester Terms.
  • When we launch, beta testers can move their account to the full site, with or without their data.
  • A redesigned account page with a display name, so buyers can stay anonymous and sellers can use a business name in public.
  • A new account menu under your name, with Profile, Personal info, Teaching (grades you teach), Change password, Email settings, Preferences and Subscription screens.
  • A friendlier sign-up: a confirm-password field, stronger password rules, a check that the email address is valid, clear errors on each field, and a short form that marks what is required.
  • A "Resend verification email" button, plus branded verification emails and pages with a clear next step.
  • Clearer sign-in errors that say what to do next.
  • Account page fixes: success messages look like success, sensible length limits on names, matching country and state pickers, and fields that keep their values after an error.
  • A seller's store closes when they delete their account.
  • Address lookup and checking when you enter an address.
  • A welcome page after you create an account, with a Become a seller card.
  • More account page polish: square photo cropping, phone-friendly emails, a delete confirmation and a password strength hint.
  • A fix so the first email verification link after sign-up always works, with a clear way to get a new one.
  • When an account closes, its owner can download all of their data as a secure, password-protected archive.
  • Beta sellers' stores, resources and settings move to the live site at launch.
  • Password reset: the Save password button always works.
  • Profile photos everywhere: a cropper where you pan and zoom under a fixed crop box, a background color for your initials badge, and the same photo badge on every page and on phones.
  • Remove your profile photo at any time, and photos are deleted when an account is deleted.
  • A buyer's photo is shown only to sellers they bought from and on their own named reviews, and reviews without a name come only from verified buyers.

Safety and privacy

  • Even stronger behind-the-scenes protection for your account and data.
  • Around-the-clock monitoring of account data, encrypted everywhere.
  • An emergency abuse switch, with a full log.
  • Round-the-clock monitoring that spots repeated failed sign-ins and attack attempts so they can be blocked automatically.
  • Limits on how large an image can be resized, so oversized requests can't slow the site down.
  • Stronger browser protections against script injection and phishing links.

Moderation and reporting

  • Screenshots attached to problem reports are saved with the report.
  • A dedicated copyright-notice form.
  • Reporters earn a reputation score, and people who keep filing false reports can lose the ability to report.
  • Seller strikes: a strike is recorded when an admin acts on a Terms violation, selling is blocked at the threshold, and sellers can dispute strikes.
  • Unsuspending a seller: a "suspended" flag kept separate from the seller's own open or closed setting, an audited unsuspend action, and an Unsuspend button that requires a reason. Sellers suspended before the fix are suspended again.
  • "Report an issue" keeps your screenshots.
  • The Report an issue button gets a consistent look and never covers form fields on phones.
  • Report a photo: every profile photo has a Report link, a reported photo is hidden right away while we review it, and we restore or remove it and let everyone involved know by email.
  • Protection against repeated false photo reports, with warnings first.
  • Banned buyers can no longer upload images, request returns, or post reviews, questions or comments.

WordPress plugin

  • A plugin for paid sellers that shows their Classwares catalog on their own website, with a public storefront (shortcode or block) and a Buy button. Checkout happens on Classwares.
  • Complete purchases from the Buy button on your WordPress site.

Running the marketplace

  • Admin tools in the account menu for our team.
  • Poster and tile image upload slots for announcements.

Email

  • Friendlier wording in account, receipt and Q&A emails.
  • One standard HTML and text template for every Classwares email.

Legal and policy

  • Final Terms and Privacy pages, including how we handle your private thumbs up and down.
  • A privacy review of personal recommendations and the delete-my-data path.
  • A table of sources and licensing for every US standards framework.
  • Sellers agree to the seller terms when they sign up or become a seller.
